
- The following tools are required for this section of the guide:
- Allen key / hex wrenches in the following sizes: 1.5mm, 2.5mm & 5mm
- A sharp knife, such as a utility knife
- A spanner / wrench in the following size: 10mm

- 3.2 meters of PTFE Tube Generic - OD 4mm ID 2.5mm
- The PTFE tube is provided in a single 3.2 meter length and is long enough to for all sizes of V-Core 4.1
- The PTFE tube will be cut into the correct lengths throughout this guide
- Always use a sharp blade such as a utility knife to cut it, whilst being careful not to cut yourself. Avoid cutting the PTFE tube with scissors or wire cutters as this will crush the tube rather than create a clean cut
- Cut the following lengths from the PTFE tube:
- 2x 87mm lengths
- 2x 250mm lengths
- Set these two 250mm lengths aside until the step 50 of the wiring chapter

- 1x T-Slot 3030 Precut - 150mm (SKU: HW4461GC)
- 1x Bracket - Extruded 90º Corner for 30 series - 6030 Tall - Black (SKU: HW3162BC)
- 4x M6x12 Cap Head Screw (SKU: HW1202SC)
- 2x M6x16 Cap Head Screw (SKU: HW2827SC)
- 4x T-Nut - Drop In Type for 30 Series - M6 (SKU: HW1361NC)
- 1x vc4_spoolholder_arm Printed Part (SKU: PP000330)
- 1x 3030_end_cap Printed Part (SKU: PP000179)

- 1x vc4_spoolholder_arm Printed Part
- 2x 87mm lengths of PTFE tube from step 2
- Insert a length of PTFE tube into each of the two slots on the spool holder arm
- Make sure that the PTFE tube is fully inserted, the PTFE tube should be flush with the end of the spool holder arm

- 2x M6x12 Cap Head Screw
- Insert each M6x12 Cap Head Screw into the spool holder arm as shown
- 2x T-Nut - Drop In Type for 30 Series - M6
- Loosely thread a T-Nut onto each of the M6x12 Cap Head Screws. Do not tighten them at this point

- 1x Bracket - Extruded 90º Corner for 30 series - 6030 Tall - Black
- 2x M6x12 Cap Head Screw
- Insert an M6x12 Cap Head Screw into each of the two holes on one side of the bracket as shown
- 2x T-Nut - Drop In Type for 30 Series - M6
- Loosely thread a 3030 T-nut onto each of the two M6x12 Cap Head Screws. Do not tighten any of them at this point

- 1x T-Slot 3030 Precut - 150mm
- Spool holder bracket assembly from the previous step
- Position the spool holder bracket as shown
- Make sure that the spool holder bracket is flush with the end of the 3030 extrusion
- Make sure both of the T-Nuts are slotted into the extrusion
- Fully tighten both of the M6x12 Cap Head Screws to secure the spool holder bracket to the 3030 extrusion

- 1x 3030_end_cap Printed Part
- Install the 3030_end_cap onto the end of the 3030 extrusion as shown

- Spool holder arm assembly from step 5
- Position the spool holder arm assembly as shown
- Make sure both of the T-Nuts are slotted into the extrusion
- Position the spool holder arm assembly at the top of the 3030 extrusion as shown
- Fully tighten both of the M6x12 Cap Head Screws to secure the spool holder arm assembly to the 3030 extrusion
- Take care not to overtighten the screws as you can damage the printed part
- Make sure that they spool holder assembly matches the assembly shown

- V-Core 4.1 Assembly - Left-hand side
- 2x M6x12 Cap Head Screw
- 2x M6 Washer
- Carefully unscrew and remove both M6x12 Cap Head Screws and both M6 washers, they are no longer needed
- It is important not to move the T-Nuts hidden under the Base Plate

- Spool holder assembly from step 9
- Position the spool holder assembly as shown. The bottom holes in the bracket should align with the holes in the Base Plate and the spool holder arm should point inwards
- 2x M6x16 Cap Head Screw
- Insert both M6x16 Cap Head Screws into the bracket and thread them back into the T-Nuts under the Base Plate
- Fully tighten both M6x16 Cap Head Screws to secure the spool holder to the frame

- 4x vc4_3060_trim_front assemblies (SKU: PP000323)
- 4x vc4_3060_trim_rear assemblies (SKU: PP000324)
- 8x M3x16 Cap Head Screw (SKU: HW1507SC)

- V-Core 4.1 Assembly - Top-left front corner
- 1x vc4_3060_trim_front assembly
- Insert the vc4_3060_trim_front assembly into the middle of the bracket as shown

- 1x vc4_3060_trim_rear assembly
- Insert the vc4_3060_trim_front assembly into the back side of the bracket as shown
- 2x M3x16 Cap Head Screw
- Insert an M3x16 Cap Head Screw into each of the two shown holes and fasten them to secure the two halves of the trim together
- Take care not to overtighten the screws as you can damage the printed parts

- Repeat step 13 and step 14 to install the remaining three corner trims
- Top-right trim
- Bottom-left trim
- Bottom-right trim

- Align the Rat Rig Endstop with the Y-axis endstop mount assembly as shown

- Insert an M3x8 Cap Head Screw through each the mounting hole in the Rat Rig Endstop and screw them into the Y-axis endstop mount
- Take care not to overtighten the screws as you can damage the printed part or the endstop

- 1x M6x12 Cap Head Screw
- Insert an M6x12 Cap Head Screw into the Y-axis endstop assembly as shown
- 1x T-Nut - Drop In Type for 30 Series - M6
- Loosely thread a 3030 T-Nut onto the M6x12 Cap Head Screw. Do not tighten it at this point

- V-Core 4.1 Assembly - Left-hand front
- Y-axis endstop assembly from the previous step
- Insert the Y-axis endstop assembly into the space between the two 3030 extrusions as shown
- Make sure the T-Nut is slotted into the upper extrusion
- Press the Y-axis endstop assembly against the front 3030 extrusion
- Fully tighten the M6x12 Cap Head Screw to secure the Y-axis endstop assembly to the V-Core 4.1 frame
- Take care not to overtighten the screw as you can damage the printed part

- Loosely thread the M3x5 Set Screw into the umbilical frame mount as shown
- Do not fully tighten the M3x5 Set Screw, it will be fastened later in the guide

- Insert each M6x12 Cap Head Screw into the umbilical frame mount as shown
- 2x T-Nut - Drop In Type for 30 Series - M6
- Loosely thread a T-Nut onto each of the M6x12 Cap Head Screws. Do not tighten them at this point

- V-Core 4.1 Assembly - Rear
- Umbilical frame mount assembly from the previous step
- Position the umbilical frame mount assembly in the middle of the rear 3030 extrusion of the V-Core 4.1 frame as shown
- Make sure the T-Nuts are slotted into the extrusion
- Fully tighten both M6x12 Cap Head Screws to secure the umbilical frame mount assembly to the V-Core 4.1 frame
- Take care not to overtighten the screws as you can damage the printed part

- Slowly and carefully thread the PC4-M10 Groovemount bowden Pass-through Adaptor into the printed part
- Take care not to overtighten the pass-through adaptor as you can damage the threads in the printed part

- 1x M6x12 Cap Head Screw
- Insert an M6x12 Cap Head Screw into the upper PTFE mount assembly as shown
- 1x T-Nut - Drop In Type for 30 Series - M6
- Loosely thread a 3030 T-Nut onto the M6x12 Cap Head Screw. Do not tighten it at this point

- V-Core 4.1 Assembly - Left-hand Rear
- Upper PTFE mount assembly from the previous step
- Position the upper PTFE mount assembly next to the left CoreXY or Hybrid stepper motor assembly as shown
- Make sure the T-Nut is slotted into the upper extrusion
- Press the upper PTFE mount assembly against the CoreXY or Hybrid stepper motor assembly
- Fully tighten the M6x12 Cap Head Screw to secure the upper PTFE mount assembly to the V-Core 4.1 frame
- Take care not to overtighten the screw as you can damage the printed part

- Slowly move the toolhead to the front-right corner as shown
- If you are building an IDEX variant of the V-Core 4.1:
- Move both toolheads to the front-right corner, positioning them next to each other and then follow the steps to connect the PTFE tube to the left-hand toolhead
- The right-hand toolhead PTFE tube will be installed later in this guide
- Remaining PTFE tube from step 2
- Feed the end of the PTFE tube into the pass-through adaptor within the upper PTFE mount from the underside as shown
- Keep feeding the PTFE tube until there is enough to reach the toolhead

- Fully insert the end of the PTFE tube into the toolhead
- The PTFE coupler in the toolhead will lock the PTFE tube in place
- Slowly move the toolhead back to the middle of the print area as shown
- If you are building an IDEX variant of the V-Core 4.1, move both toolheads back to the middle
- The right-hand toolhead PTFE tube will be installed later in this guide

- 1x vc4_ptfe_guide_lower Printed Part
- 1x M6x12 Cap Head Screw
- Insert an M6x12 Cap Head Screw into the lower PTFE mount printed part as shown
- 1x T-Nut - Drop In Type for 30 Series - M6
- Loosely thread a 3030 T-Nut onto the M6x12 Cap Head Screw. Do not tighten it at this point
- Prepare two of the lower PTFE mounts
- Insert the free end of the PTFE tube into both lower PTFE mounts making sure that the PTFE tube is on the right-hand side, and the M6x12 Cap Head Screw is on the left-hand side

- V-Core 4.1 Assembly - Back-left corner
- 1x Lower PTFE mount assembly from the previous step
- Position the upper of the two assemblies as shown. The marked space should be roughly 140mm
- Fully tighten the M6x12 Cap Head Screw to secure the PTFE mount to the V-Core 4.1 frame, and clamp the PTFE tube within the mount
- 1x Lower PTFE mount assembly from the previous step
- Position the lower of the two assemblies as shown. The marked space should be roughly 60mm
- Fully tighten the M6x12 Cap Head Screw to secure the PTFE mount to the V-Core 4.1 frame, and clamp the PTFE tube within the mount
- Pass the remaining PTFE tube towards the front of the V-Core 4.1, it will be cut to length in the next step

- Left-hand spool holder assembly
- Left-hand PTFE tube
- Cut the PTFE tube so that it ends near the left-hand spool holder as shown

- 4x vc4_led_holder_frame assembly (SKU: PP000391)

- Insert an M6 cap head screw into the printed part as shown

- Loosely thread a 3030 T-Nut onto the M6x12 screws. Do not tighten it at this point
- Prepare four of these parts

- 1x Rat Rig Dayspring LED strip - 310mm
- 2x LED frame mount from the previous step
- Align a frame mount assembly with each mounting hole on the LED strip
- 2x M3x8 Button Head Screw
- Insert an M3x8 button head screw through the mounting hole in the LED strip and screw it into the printed mount
- Assemble two LED strips

- Rat Rig V-Core 4.1 assembly - Left side
- 1x LED strip assembly from the previous step
- Align the LED strip mounts with the frame, making sure both T-nuts slot into the extrusion slots
- Secure the LED strip to the frame by tightening both M6x12 screws
- Take care not to overtighten the screws as you can damage the printed parts

- Rat Rig V-Core 4.1 assembly - Right side
- 1x LED strip assembly from the step 34
- Align the LED strip mounts with the frame, making sure both T-nuts slot into the extrusion slots
- Secure the LED strip to the frame by tightening both M6x12 screws
- Take care not to overtighten the screws as you can damage the printed parts
- If you are building a CoreXY or Hybrid variant of the V-Core 4.1, then please skip the remainder of this guide and move on to the electronics
- If you are building an IDEX variant of the V-Core 4.1, then please continue following the next steps to install the IDEX accessories

- Spool holder arm assembly from step 41
- Position the spool holder arm assembly as shown
- Make sure both of the T-Nuts are slotted into the extrusion
- Position the spool holder arm assembly at the top of the 3030 extrusion as shown
- Fully tighten both of the M6x12 Cap Head Screws to secure the spool holder arm assembly to the 3030 extrusion
- Make sure that they spool holder assembly matches the assembly shown. The right spool holder is not identical to the left one assembled previously

- V-Core 4.1 Assembly - Right-hand side
- 2x M6x12 Cap Head Screw
- 2x M6 Washer
- Carefully unscrew and remove both M6x12 Cap Head Screws and both M6 washers, they are no longer needed
- It is important not to move the T-Nuts hidden under the Base Plate

- Position the spool holder assembly as shown. The bottom holes in the bracket should align with the holes in the Base Plate and the spool holder arm should point inwards

- 1x T-Nut - Drop In Type for 30 Series - M6
- Loosely thread a 3030 T-Nut onto the M6x12 Cap Head Screw. Do not tighten it at this point

- V-Core 4.1 Assembly - Right-hand Rear
- Upper PTFE mount assembly from the previous step
- Position the upper PTFE mount assembly next to the right CoreXY or Hybrid stepper motor assembly as shown
- Make sure the T-Nut is slotted into the upper extrusion
- Press the upper PTFE mount assembly against the CoreXY or Hybrid stepper motor assembly
- Fully tighten the M6x12 Cap Head Screw to secure the upper PTFE mount assembly to the V-Core 4.1 frame
- Take care not to overtighten the screw as you can damage the printed part

- Slowly move both toolheads to the front-left corner as shown
- Remaining PTFE tube from step 38
- Feed the end of the PTFE tube into the pass-through adaptor within the upper PTFE mount from the underside as shown
- Keep feeding the PTFE tube until there is enough to reach the toolhead

- Fully insert the end of the PTFE tube into the right (T1) toolhead
- The PTFE coupler in the toolhead will lock the PTFE tube in place
- Slowly move both toolheads back to the middle of the print area as shown

- 1x vc4_ptfe_guide_lower Printed Part
- 1x M6x12 Cap Head Screw
- Insert an M6x12 Cap Head Screw into the lower PTFE mount printed part as shown
- 1x T-Nut - Drop In Type for 30 Series - M6
- Loosely thread a 3030 T-Nut onto the M6x12 Cap Head Screw. Do not tighten it at this point
- Prepare two of the lower PTFE mounts
- Insert the free end of the PTFE tube into both lower PTFE mounts making sure that the PTFE tube is on the left-hand side, and the M6x12 Cap Head Screw is on the right-hand side

- V-Core 4.1 Assembly - Back-right corner
- 1x Lower PTFE mount assembly from the previous step
- Position the upper of the two assemblies as shown. The marked space should be roughly 140mm
- Fully tighten the M6x12 Cap Head Screw to secure the PTFE mount to the V-Core 4.1 frame, and clamp the PTFE tube within the mount
- 1x Lower PTFE mount assembly from the previous step
- Position the lower of the two assemblies as shown. The marked space should be roughly 60mm
- Fully tighten the M6x12 Cap Head Screw to secure the PTFE mount to the V-Core 4.1 frame, and clamp the PTFE tube within the mount
- Pass the remaining PTFE tube towards the front of the V-Core 4.1, it will be cut to length in the next step

- Right-hand spool holder assembly
- Right-hand PTFE tube
- Cut the PTFE tube so that it ends near the right-hand spool holder as shown

- 1x Rat Rig V-Core 4.0 - Oozeguard Arm - Left (SKU: HW3730BC)
- 1x Rat Rig V-Core 4.0 - Oozeguard Arm - Right (SKU: HW3731BC)
- Please note: The left and right Oozeguard arms are different. Use the provided image to correctly identify them
- 2x Rat Rig V-Core 4.0 - Oozeguard Silicone (SKU: HW3732GC)
- 4x Set Screw M3x8mm (SKU: HW3733SC)

- Rat Rig V-Core 4.1 - Oozeguard Arm - Left
- Rat Rig V-Core 4.1 - Oozeguard Silicone
- Insert the Oozeguard Silicone into the arm as shown
- Begin by pushing one end of the silicone "flange" through the Oozeguard Arm
- Using a blunt object such as a flat-head screwdriver, push the remainder of the "flange" thought the Oozeguard Arm
- Avoid using anything sharp as this can damage the silicone and take care not to bend the Oozeguard Arm
- Make sure the Oozeguard Silicone is correctly oriented with the ribbed end facing away from the Oozeguard Arm

- Repeat the previous step to assemble the other Oozeguard
- Left Oozeguard Assembly
- Right Oozeguard Assembly

- V-Core 4.1 X-Axis Gantry Assembly - Left Side
- 2x Set Screw M3x8mm
- Slightly thread a Set Screw into each of the two marked heat inserts. Do not fully thread them in at this point
- Left Oozeguard Assembly from step 59
- Insert the Oozeguard Assembly into the slot on the underside of the X-Axis Gantry as shown
- Tighten both M3x8 Set Screws to secure the Oozeguard Arm in place
- Be careful not to overtighten the M3x8 Set Screws as you can force the heat inserts out of the printed part

- Move the left (T0) toolhead over the Oozeguard. The silicone and arm should flex out of the way and allow the nozzle to sit firmly on the pad
- If there is a gap between the silicone and the nozzle, first make sure that the Rapido hotend has the UHF adapter and nozzle installed. These are required on the V-Core 4.1
- If the Rapido hotend does have the UHF adapter and nozzle installed, and there is still a gap, make sure the Oozeguard is firmly installed within the printed part
- If the Oozeguard is too high and prevents the toolhead from moving to the end of the X-axis, adjust the Oozeguard downwards slightly by loosening the two Set Screws, lowering the Oozeguard, and then retightening the Set Screws
- Repeat both the previous step, and this step to install the right-hand Oozeguard
