This section of the guide will step you assembling the IDEX VAOC module and installing it on the V-Core 4.1.

- The following tools are required for this guide:
- Allen key / hex wrenches in the following sizes: 2mm & 2.5mm
- A pair of scissors

- 1x vc4_vaoc_body assembly (SKU: PP000355)
- 1x vc4_vaoc_diffusor assembly (SKU: PP000358)
- 1x Custom CNC machined chicago bolt actuator button (SKU: HW4143GC)
- 1x POM Spacer - OD9xID5.1x6mm for VAOC (SKU: HW4142GC)
- 1x Spring - Stainless Steel (SKU: HW4093GC)
- 1x M4x8 Countersink Screw (SKU: HW4083SC)
- 2x M3x16 Cap Head Screw (SKU: HW1507SC)
- 1x Rat Rig VAOC Endstop v1.0 (SKU: HW4084MK)

- 1x vc4_vaoc_body assembly
- 1x POM Spacer - OD9xID5.1x6mm for VAOC
- Insert the POM spacer into the VAOC body as shown. Make sure that it is fully seated in the hole
- 1x Custom CNC machined chicago bolt actuator button
- 1x Spring - Stainless Steel
- Install the spring over the shaft of the Custom CNC actuator button and then insert the shaft into the hole in the POM spacer as shown
- Hold the actuator button in place until the M4x8 Countersink Screw is fastened in the next step

- Gently press the Custom CNC actuator button downwards to compress the spring and then, whilst still depressing the actuator button, turn the assembly over
- 1x M4x8 Countersink Screw
- Fasten the M4x8 Countersink Screw into the threads within the Custom CNC actuator button as shown
- Once the M4x8 Countersink Screw is finger-tight, you no longer need to press the Custom CNC actuator button down
- Fully tighten the M4x8 Countersink Screw by holding the Custom CNC actuator button with your fingers, then using a hex wrench to tighten the M4x8 Countersink Screw
- Do not hold the Custom CNC actuator button with anything other than your fingers as you can cause damage to the shaft which will affect the operation of the VAOC module

- 2x M3x16 Cap Head Screw
- Insert an M3x16 Cap Head Screw into each of the holes on either side of the Custom CNC actuator button as shown
- 1x Rat Rig VAOC Endstop v1.0
- Insert the Rat Rig VAOC Endstop into the VAOC module
- Make sure that the left-hand hole in the endstop PCB is aligned with the screw thread and the right-hand hole is aligned with the small extrusion in the printed part
- Make sure that neither of the M3x16 Cap Head Screws, or the Rat Rig VAOC Endstop, fall out of the assembly during the following steps

- 1x vc4_vaoc_diffusor assembly
- Insert the VAOC diffusor assembly into the VAOC body as shown
¶ Step 7 - Prepare the VAOC camera and LED parts

- Rat Rig VAOC Camera Module (With 50mm FPC) (SKU: HW3992EC)
- 1x Rat Rig VAOC Camera
- 1x Rat Rig VAOC Camera DSP Board
- 1x 50mm FPC
- 1x Rat Rig VAOC LED Module (SKU: HW3998EC)
- 1x vc4_vaoc_midframe Printed Part (SKU: PP000359)
- 20mm of Foam Strip - 1mm x 8mm - Adhesive 3M - EVA material (SKU: HW2943GC)
- 2x M3x12 Cap Head Screw (SKU: HW1292SC)

- 1x Rat Rig VAOC Camera
- Insert the Rat Rig VAOC Camera into the VAOC diffusor as shown. Make sure that it is oriented as shown, with the white 'dot' in the upper-left corner
- 1x 50mm FPC
- The camera end of the 50mm FPC is where the printed text "3DO FPC - 5CM" ends
- Foam Strip - 1mm x 8mm - Adhesive 3M - EVA material
- Cut the approximately 6mm of foam strip and then peel the protective cover from the adhesive. Apply the foam to the back of the camera end of the FPC
- Orient the FPC so that the white 'dots' on both the Rat Rig VAOC Camera, as well as the camera end of the FPC, are aligned
- Making sure the orientation is correct, connect the FPC to the VAOC camera as shown

- 1x Rat Rig VAOC LED Module
- Pass the loose end of the FPC through the hole in the centre of the Rat Rig VAOC LED module as shown
- Make sure that the FPC remains connected to the VAOC camera module
- Insert the Rat Rig VAOC LED module into the VAOC module body as shown
- It is possible that the Rat Rig VAOC LED module PCB has small imperfections from manufacturing which could cause interferences when installing
- If the Rat Rig VAOC LED Module does not fit correctly, you can use some sandpaper to smooth down any remaining imperfections
- If it is necessary to smooth the PCB edges, do so in a well-ventilated area and wear a mask. PCB dust is hazardous to your health

- 1x vc4_vaoc_midframe Printed Part
- Pass the loose end of the FPC through the hole in the centre of the vc4_vaoc_midframe printed part as shown
- Make sure that the FPC remains connected to the VAOC camera module
- 2x M3x12 Cap Head Screw
- Insert each M3x12 Cap Head Screw through the midframe, VAOC LED module and tighten them into the VAOC diffusor
- Take care not to overtighten the screws as you can damage the printed parts

- 1x vc4_vaoc_vent Printed Part (SKU: PP000356)
- 1x vc4_vaoc_duct Printed Part (SKU: PP000357)
- 2x M3x45 Countersink Screw (SKU: HW3497SC)
- 4x M3x40 Cap Head Screw (SKU: HW1869SC)

- The VAOC wiring should have been pre-run in step 58 through step 61 of the Wiring Guide. The remaining VAOC assembly steps will need to be performed on the V-Core 4.1 assembly
- 1x vc4_vaoc_vent Printed Part
- Align the small markers on the printed parts to ensure the correct orientation of the assembly
- Make sure the marked cable exit is facing upwards and is on the same side as the VAOC LED Module connector
- Rat Rig VAOC Camera DSP Board
- Connect the loose end of the FPC to the Rat Rig VAOC Camera DSP Board as shown
- Connect the Rat Rig VAOC Camera DSP Board to the USB-A to Rat Rig VAOC Camera cable which was installed in step 59 of the Wiring Guide
- Fit the Rat Rig VAOC Camera DSP Board into the VAOC assembly as shown. The VAOC midframe will secure the Camera DSP Board USB connector preventing it from disconnecting

- 1x vc4_vaoc_duct Printed Part
- Align the small markers on the printed parts to ensure the correct orientation of the assembly
- Fan - 40mm Axial Brushless 24V DC - 1500mm Cable previously installed in step 61 of the Wiring Guide
- Orient the fan as shown so that the label on the fan faces into the VAOC Module assembly and that the fan cable exits the on the same side as the VAOC LED Module connector
- 4x M3x40 Cap Head Screw
- Make sure the marked cable management is on the same side as the VAOC LED Module connector

- It is recommended to temporarily lift the bed assembly off of the arms and set it on the base of the V-Core 4.1 to allow better access to install the VAOC Module
- VAOC Module assembly from the previous step
- Align the two M3x16 Cap Head Screws with the heat inserts in the top of the rear Z-axis arm
- Make sure that the VAOC module is sitting flat atop the rear Z-axis arm and that the assembly looks as shown
- Fully tighten both M3x16 Cap Head Screws to secure the VAOC Module to the rear bed arm
- Take care not to overtighten the screws as you can damage the printed parts

- 2x M3x45 Countersink Screw
- Insert both M3x45 Countersink Screws through the holes in the side of the VAOC Module and carefully thread them into the rear Z-axis arm
- Fully tighten both M3x45 Countersink Screws to secure the VAOC Module to the rear z-axis arm
- Take care not to overtighten the screws as you can damage the printed parts

- Locate the marked connector for the VAOC endstop on the VAOC assembly
- Connect the VAOC Endstop cable which was pre-installed in step 59 of the Wiring Guide to the VAOC Endstop
- Route the VAOC Endstop cable as shown
- Do not worry about managing the cable at this point, It will be managed in a upcoming step

- Locate the marked connector for the VAOC LED module on the VAOC assembly
- Connect the VAOC LED cable which was pre-installed in step 60 of the Wiring Guide to the VAOC LED module
- Route the VAOC LED cable as shown
- Do not worry about managing the cable at this point, It will be managed in the next step

- Use two cable ties to secure the VAOC Endstop cable to the VAOC assembly at the points shown
- Route each VAOC component cable as shown and then gather together all four of them at the cable tie slots
- Use two cable ties to secure the VAOC cable bundle to the VAOC assembly at the points shown
- Route the VAOC cable bundle as shown
- Do not connect the cable bundle to the frame, it must hang freely to allow it to move alone with the Z-axis
- You can optionally use any remaining cable sleeve from wiring the toolhead umbilical to sleeve the VAOC cable bundle
